This Privacy Policy applies to Kliq Social (General partnership) (“Kliq”, “us”) a company registered in Canada under company number (78398 4008 BC0001) with registered office at 112 - 9303 Salish CRT Burnaby BC V3J 7B7, Canada. Kliq operates the website () (“”) and the Kliq application (“App”) (together “Services”).

This Privacy Policy governs the handling of personal data and information that we collect from our users ("User(s)", "you"). Kliq reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time without prior notice. The revised terms of the Privacy Policy will become effective upon posting to the Website or App (as applicable) and your acceptance (opt-in) of the revised terms before your next access to the Services. If you do not consent to the revised terms, your sole remedy is to stop accessing, browsing, or otherwise using the Services.

Kliq may from time to time provide links to other applications or websites (such as social media sites). Please note that your browsing and interaction on such other applications or websites is subject to the terms and conditions and privacy policies and notices of those applications and websites. This Kliq privacy policy applies only to Kliq's Services. Kliq does not review, and therefore assumes no responsibility for, the privacy practices of such applications and websites. Kliq strongly recommends that you carefully review the terms of use and privacy policies and notices of such applications and websites before you begin using them. Kliq is not responsible or liable in any way for the privacy practices, information, or content of such third-party applications or websites.

Scope of Processing – Why do we process your Data

As a matter of principle, we process personal data of our Users only insofar as this is necessary for the provision of functional Services. Personal data is only processed with the consent of the Users, unless the processing of the data is legally permitted.

We collect personal data and information in particular to:

create your user account and administer it

build a profile of your preferences so we can personalise and provide you with relevant information

provide you with recommendations that match your stated preferences and previous use of the Services

verify your identity (including processing of your identity documents in order to confirm your identity)

When using our Services, you always have the option not to share personal data and other information. However, parts of our Services require certain data for the proper execution and use of the functions. Therefore, if you do not provide us with the necessary data, you may not be able to make full use of all Services.

When using our App, you may provide us with personal data, places and preferences or you may use our direct communication channels.

You may provide us with the following types of personal data:

Content of Messages

If you create a Kliq account, you provide us with your name and email address, which we use to ensure your saved places and other personalization features are synced across your multiple devices. When you log in using Google, we receive your name and email address from them.

Places and Preferences: You may choose to provide us with information on your places and preferences. We use this information to develop personalized experiences. We also analyze this data in aggregate to improve the App (for example, by ranking certain results more highly than others).

Direct communication channels: When you communicate with us (for example when you respond to in-App survey questions, report problems, raise queries etc.) we may receive information about the type of phone you're using, your service provider and, if you've enabled the location permissions in your device, the latitude and longitude of your location when you contact us. We use this information to fix problems in the App, to reply to your communications and to help keep you safe.

Information created when you use features on the App:

The following are the types of information created when you use our App.

Information on your location:

If you have enabled your device’s location services, we may collect and use your current location information in your chosen intervals (e.g. “Quickster” (location updated every minute); “Dasher” (location updated every 3 minutes); “I’m coming” (location updated every 5 minutes) or “Fashionably late” (location updated every 15 minutes)). Depending on your location choices on our App, this collection happens continuously, when opening the App or never. Please note that if you disable your location services on the App, you may only use the messaging services. All other features can only be used when the location services are enabled.

Information on your device:

We collect information about the devices you use to access our App, including the type of computer or device you use, the installation ID of the App on your device, the hardware model, operating system and versions, software, file names and versions, the preferred language, time zone settings, and device motion information. This information is necessary for us to diagnose bugs and improve the App. We do not collect any permanent device ID numbers.

Log and Usage Information

Each time you open the App, we collect information about how and when you use it (such as the time and date, searches in the App features, pages visited, app crashes and other system activity). We use this information to improve our App in multiple ways. For example, fixing bugs preventing future crashes and working out which features our users find most helpful.

The App uses cookies to store certain information, for example, that you have visited our website before or information about how you use the App. For more information, please refer to our Cookie Policy (www.kliqsocial.com/cookiepolicy.pdf).

Third Parties which may receive your Data

Other than as specifically set out in this Privacy Policy or the Cookie Policy (www.kliqsocial.com/cookiepolicy.pdf), none of the User data that is processed by Kliq is shared with any third parties.

From time to time, we may share information with third parties to improve the App and enhance user experience. To the extent possible we pseudonymize (remove information that identifies you) and minimize the data we send to them:

Event Providers / Managers: A transfer to third parties such as festival or large event providers will only be conducted with your specific consent (opt-in), in each individual case. If you are in the vicinity of an event (e.g. festival), you may be asked if you agree to the provision of your location the event provider/manager. Upton your consent, they will then receive unspecified user heat-points of your location in order to create generalized heat-maps for the event.

Location Provider: We have location providers, such as MapBox store user location on AWS EC2, to enable the use of location services in our App.

Search Partners: We have search partners like Google so you can find the places you want to go in the App. They receive the place name you have searched for and to make your search results as relevant as possible, they receive your current location (if you have enabled location services in your device).

Analytics Vendors: We use third party vendors like Google Analytics to understand what you've tapped or clicked on the App. They receive information showing only that someone has tapped or used certain features in the App. They organize that information and give it back to us so that we can make improvements to the App.

Crash/Error Reporting Vendors: We may use third party providers to report on crashes or errors in the App.

Messaging Apps: If you decide to use certain sharing features in our App, then you may be sharing your information with those companies, depending on encryption policies used by the messaging company. Please note that your browsing and interaction on other applications or websites is subject to the terms and conditions and privacy policies and notices of those applications and websites.

When we share your personal data with such third party providers, appropriate arrangements are made to ensure correct and secure data processing in accordance with applicable data protection laws (e.g. EU standard contractual clauses, data processing contracts, adequate risk assessments). We do not allow our third party providers to use the personal data we provide to them for their marketing purposes or for purposes other than in connection with the services they provide to us.

Security of your Data

We take all reasonable precautions to protect your information and personal data from misuse, interference, and loss, as well as unauthorized access, modification or disclosure. The ways we do this include encryption, pseudonymization, limitation of physical access to our premises and devices, limitation of access to the information we collect from you (need-to-know principle), and installation and maintenance of appropriate information security safeguards (e.g. firewalls).

Please note that the submission of information via the internet and mobile networks is never entirely secure. Kliq cannot guarantee the security of information you submit via the App whilst it is in transit over the internet or mobile networks and any such submission is at your own risk.

Location of your Data

Data that you submit via our App is sent to and stored on the (Microsoft Azure) located in (Canada central zone). Data submitted by you may be transferred by us to affiliated companies and/or third parties as specifically stated in this Privacy Policy. Please note that these locations may be outside Canada and the European Economic Area.

Rights of our Users

Information and Deletion Request of your Data

You have the right to request information and access to a copy of the personal data we hold from you at any time. For this purpose, please send an email from the email address used to create your account to (social.kliq@gmail.com) with the subject "Data Subject Request", your username, as well as details about what personal data you’re looking for. Your request will be dealt with within one month of receipt of such request. If Kliq is only the data processor of your personal data, then Kliq will forward your request to the data controller as soon as possible.

You have the right to request this information in electronic form and, where applicable, request rectification of the personal data if it is inaccurate. You have the right to request we delete your personal data if you believe that we no longer need it for the purposes for which it was provided, you wish to withdraw your consent (and we have no other lawful basis to use the data), or we are not using your information in a lawful manner. We will keep a record of your request in order to ensure compliance with legal obligations.

Duration of Processing of your Data

We store your personal data for as long as is necessary to provide our Services. The personal data of the users will be deleted as soon as the original purpose of the processing ceases to apply, unless Kliq is obliged as a processor to store the personal data in question for a longer period of time, in accordance with applicable law. Personal data will be deleted as soon as the retention period provided for in the applicable law expires.

Note that residual copies may take longer to be removed from our backup systems which cannot be immediately overwritten. Where residual copies are still kept on our back-up systems, they are merely held on the system and are not used for any other purpose.

Complaints

We work hard to handle your information responsibly. If you're unhappy about the way we do this, please contact our Data Protection Officer by email to (social.kliq@gmail.com).

However, you also have the right to lodge a complaint about the data processing activities carried out by Kliq with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada: unless mandatory legal provisions give a User the right to lodge a complaint in the place of his or her residence.
